my story

Hi, my name is Andrea Woodard, the founder of Woodard Dressage. I am an accredited Master Rider through the Danish Equestrian Federation  and I'm classically trained with a profound knowledge of how to prepare top horses for sale and competition.
I have many years of experience working as a professional dressage rider and instructor, teaching all levels of riders from amateur to professionals. In addition, I have extensive experience in training and developing young dressage horses to reach their highest potential.

I was born in the USA, but grew up in Denmark. With a love for horses since my childhood, it was a natural choice for me to become a Master Rider, and in 2009, I completed my 6-year riding education under the Danish Equestrian Federation.
Since my graduation, I have worked as an instructor for amateur as well as professional riders and I have been employed as a principal dressage rider at one of Denmark’s largest stud farms, Stutteri Viegaarden.

From 2011 to 2015 I worked as a rider for Andreas Helgstrand at his huge sales and competition stables, Helgstrand Dressage, located in northern Denmark. There I took my professional career to a new level, working with Helgstrand’s unique collection of elite dressage horses, preparing the horses for competition as well as sale.

I have, for instance, participated in the F.E.I. World Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Germany and I have numerous placements with several horses up to Grand Prix. On Helgstrand’s horses, I have obtained several placements in the FEI young horse classes, Prix St. George, Intermediare I, Intermediare II and Grand Prix.

I am now living in Wellington with my Italian husband Giuliano, our son Jamie and our dog Charlie.
